100 for Matt Sonczak as U18s Reach Cup Final

Glossop CC U18’s booked their place in the GMCL 18’s Cup Final with a fine victory over a good Astley & Tyldesley side.
Batting first, Glossop had Matt Sonczak and Jak Megram to thank as they posted an intimidating total of 178-3 from their 20 overs. A remarkable innings saw a rare hundred in junior cricket, with Sonczak smashing a blistering 101 from only 65 balls, whilst Megram supported well at a good rate, with 49 runs of his own off just 36 balls.
In reply, Astley & Tyldesley started well through Alex Heaton; the opener reaching an excellent half century in quick time. However, when the man of the moment, Sonczak, had him trapped LBW for 55, Glossop were once again in the driving seat. The home side never really recovered against a decent Glossop attack and the rate continued to increase each over. They eventually ended up 42 runs short on 136-3, as Glossop ended a long wait for a Cup Final appearance in junior cricket.
The final is to be played on Sunday 21st August, 1:30pm start at Glossop CC, as the 18’s take on Greenmount.
