Glossop CC 1XI (148/10 –39.1)
Swinton Moorside CC 1XI (220/8 – 50.0)
Glossop CC 1XI fell to a second successive league defeat of the season away at Swinton Moorside.
Batting first, the hosts posted 220 from their 50 overs thanks largely to a 48-ball 55 from Mathew Norvall and a quickfire late cameo from Ben Johnson (30*).
Wickets were shared amongst the Glossop bowlers, with Will Hargreaves (4/32), Oliver Kenyon (3/79) and Cameron Ball (1/81) doing well to contain Swinton on a small ground with a fast outfield.
Glossop had to battle early in their reply, with Bradley Palmer and Tim Ockhuis bowling an exceptional opening spell and claiming the scalps of David Wilde and Kenyon inside 12 overs.
Dale Pennington (29) and Ball (21) continued to graft hard, bringing the visitors back into the game with an important 48-run partnership, but when both they and Alex Browne fell in a matter of overs, Glossop were in trouble at 72/5.
Despite Will Coates’ run-a-ball 29 and brief lower order contributions from Daniel Senior (13) and Will Appleton (14), Glossop continued to regularly lose wickets throughout and finished 72 runs short.
