2XI edge close game against West

At North Road the 2XI recorded another victory in a closely fought game against old rivals Denton West. Glossop restricted West to 148-9 from their 45 overs with Daniel Senior taking 6-50, whilst Rob Adderley and James Eyre picked up a wicket each in a good first half performance. Glossop looked to be cruising towards the target with James Eyre hitting an impressive 69 from 71 balls, but a remarkable end to the game saw a number of wickets fall cheaply and the match went right down to the wire. Glossop just managed to get themselves over the line thanks to Rob Adderley’s 16* at the death of the innings as they won with just 3 balls to spare in a chase that was far too close for comfort. The 2XI now sit second in the table, just one point behind Deane & Derby CC in top spot.

Friday 24th June sees the Glossop Lions play the Hadfield Heat in the Natwest Under 19’s 2020 competition at Hadfield St Andrews Cricket Club. It promises to be a good game between two sides that rarely have the opportunity to play each other. Make sure you get yourself down to Hadfield CC for the 6pm start.
