Littleborough Lakeside CC 1XI (263/9 – 50.0)
Glossop CC 2XI (266/7 – 45.3)
The 2XI also started their season with a remarkable win, chasing down a mammoth target at North Road against Littleborough Lakeside 1XI.
Wickets were shared amongst Glossop’s bowlers, with Sam Dyson (2/73), Will Coates (1/23), Tom Nally (2/26), Dan Eyre (3/59) and David Wilde (1/59) helping to restrict Littleborough to 263 on an excellent batting surface.
Despite losing two early wickets, Glossop batted superbly in reply, with Adam Wilson (48) and Coates (30) putting together a 68-run partnership.
They fell in back-to-back overs to leave Glossop 112/4 at half-way, but the hosts maintained their strong position thanks to Sam Elliott and Jarrod Holmes, with the former making a run-a-ball 42 before he was dismissed with 73 required from the final 12 overs.
Holmes remained at the crease, however, striking an explosive 69* from 56 balls, and alongside Nally (21*), he took Glossop over the line with almost five overs to spare.
