The 2XI claimed an impressive victory at Irlam as they look to keep their title hopes alive, whilst challenging for the two promotion spots against Prestwich and Deane & Derby. Glossop bowled brilliantly early on as Irlam wobbled, the home side 53-6 after 17 overs. Lowery and Ul Haq however put the party on hold as they put on 62 for the 7th wicket before James Eyre (3-38) dismissed Ul Haq for 42. Irlam were eventually bowled out for 146, a score that looked like it might be difficult to chase on a tricky wicket, with David Allen (3-34), Andrew Dyson (2-38), Jonathon Booth (1-12) and David Wilde (1-5) picking up the wickets.
Glossop lost Liam Bottomley and David Allen early on in their reply, but Wilde was batting well at the other end and made an excellent 35 before he too was dismissed by Scott Lowery. Glossop looked like they could be struggling at 56-3 despite the good run rate, but Steve Bates (38*) and James Eyre (50*) played magnificently to steer Glossop, 148-3, home by 7 wickets and claim an impressive 6 point win. They travel to local rivals Denton West next week as they look to continue their good form as they challenge for promotion and the league title.
