Unsworth CC 1XI (62/10 – 25.3)
Glossop CC 1XI (68/1 – 13.5)
Glossop win by 9 wickets (DLS method)
Glossop CC 1XI recorded a league double over struggling Unsworth with a comfortable 9-wicket victory in yet another rain-affected GMCL fixture.
Although play was reduced to just 26 overs per side on this occasion, the game bore many similarities to the reverse clash at North Road, in which the Glossop attack ripped through Unsworth for just 61/10.
One wicket apiece for Cameron Ball (1/16) and Oliver Kenyon (1/9), as well as a run out from the latter, put Glossop in a strong early position with Unsworth reduced to 6/3 inside 7 overs.
Will Hargreaves also took one of his own, removing Tom Earnshaw for 19 – one of only two players to reach double figures – but the rest of the day belonged, without a doubt, to Alex Coates.
Coates claimed a remarkable 6/18 from 5.3 overs, including a hat trick from the last three balls of the innings, as Unsworth slipped from 54/4 to 62/10, one more run than they managed earlier in the season.
While Glossop lost Dan Eyre early in the reply, there was little to worry about for the visitors as Dale Pennington (29*) and George Dyson (31*) smashed their side to victory in just 13.5 overs.
The result keeps Glossop, who now sit 6 point behind table-topping Moorside, in the hunt for promotion from GMCL Division 1A with four fixtures remaining.
