Ball and Adderley crush Unsworth

Unsworth CC 1XI (61/10 – 18.0)

Glossop CC 1XI (64/1 –12.4)

Glossop CC 1XI returned to winning ways against Unsworth and avenged their cup defeat with a comprehensive 9-wicket victory at North Road.

The hosts dominated throughout, with Cameron Ball (5/41) and Rob Adderley (5/18) bowling superbly in tandem with the new ball.

Both claimed magnificent five-wicket-hauls as Glossop reduced Unsworth to just 61/10, Alec Robinson (20) and Simon Hetherington (11) the only men to reach double figures on a disappointing afternoon for the visitors.

Glossop lost one wicket in their chase, that of David Wilde for 15, but George Dyson (29*) and Alex Browne (13*) saw their side across the line for a comfortable six-point victory inside 13 overs.

The result moves Glossop into joint-third in the GMCL Division 1A league standings, 7 points behind table-topping Glodwick.

ICC Cricket World Cup Family Night at Glossop CC

In line with an initiative from the ICC, Glossop CC are hosting a Cricket World Cup-themed family night at North Road, Friday 7th June, 6pm.

The event will be in addition to the traditional Friday Night Coaching sessions, and will offer a number of family-friendly activities.

Some of these include face painting, a bouncy castle, catching competitions and a bowl at the professional (Alex Browne) competition for parents and children alike.

Refreshments will be available as usual, with the bar open, downstairs kitchen in operation and a BBQ outside so you can soak up the sun in Glossop’s biggest beer garden.

It promises to be an excellent night, and we hope to see plenty of new and familiar faces down at North Road.
