Charlie Megram of Glossop Cricket Club made his maiden century whilst representing the High Peak Cricket Development Group against South Derbyshire Development Group, played at Formarke School, Repton, Derbyshire. Charlie, who also captained the side, won the toss elected to bat.
After a slow start, Charlie played straight and correctly and took what runs were available along with Harry Griffin from Buxton CC. At the drinks interval the score was 53 for 1. It was after this that Charlie took the challenge to his opponents with a great array of shots, having being dropped a couple of times Charlie reached his century in the 39th over with a wonderful 6, his fourth of his innings. High Peak finished on 164 for 7, then bowled out their opponents for 114.
Charlie also took the last wicket courtesy of a fantastic diving catch from his team-mate Joe Crabtree, also from Glossop CC. Coach Stuart Milner said after the game that to make a century in any form of cricket takes great concentration and application, but to do it in 39 overs is an amazing achievement. He also commented on how well the rest of the team performed and they are all a credit to themselves and the clubs they represent.
