Lancashire U15s side hosted a game at North Road Glossop on Sunday against Derbyshire U15s , including two of Glossop’s young stars who played on the ground on the previous day. The “home” side batted first and managed a modest total of 153 all out thanks to tight bowling by the Derbyshire lads. In reply opener George Dyson ( Glossop ) led the way with a brisk 16 but the match was in the balance before a fine fifth wicket partnership of 52 between Glossop’s Matt Sonczak ( 25n/o) and Hadfield’s Cameron Ball ( 24 n/o) saw the “away” team to victory by 6 wickets with 8 overs to spare. An excellent effort by the Derbyshire lads in front of a large crowd basking in the June sunshine on a lovely Sunday afternoon.
The game is one of several requested by the Lancashire county club who have been impressed by the Glossop club’s excellent facilities on and off the playing area.
Next weekend at North Road – Glossop 1st XI v Thornham on Saturday and Derbyshire U14s v Lancashire 12 noon start Sunday.
