Dyson Secures Double Over Westleigh

Westleigh: 168/10 [45.5]

Glossop: 169/5 [35.5]

Glossop 2XI recorded a home and away league double over Westleigh 1Xi with an impressive performance at North Road.

The visitors chose to bat first on a typically flat Glossop track with a lush outfield and made a reserved start.

James Eyre and Rob Adderley bowled tightly early on without reward, but it was David Allen who eventually got the breakthrough.

Allen bowled Entwistle for 13 and then had the dangerous Porter caught for 54 a few overs later, the visitors 80/2 at halfway.

Wickets soon began to fall regularly after the break, though, with Rob Adderley (2/21) returning for a second spell to remove Whittle and Woodcock.

Jack Leyland bowled with control from the bottom end, picking up a wicket of his own (1/21), but it was Will Coates who did the damage to the lower order.

Coates, bowling for the first time in a game after a long period out with a shoulder injury, claimed a quick 3/20.

James Eyre also returned and took one wicket, whilst some quick thinking from keeper Steve Wood saw the end of Lloyd, Westleigh a disappointing 168/10.

Glossop lost both Daniel Senior and Dan Eyre early in the reply, but Will Coates and George Dyson continued to score at an impressive rate.

Coates made a quick 28 before he misjudged a Lloyd delivery, Glossop 54/3 after an action packed opening 10 overs.

Dyson and David Wilde put to bed any doubts, though, with a brilliant partnership of 62 in 15 overs to take Glossop within 50 runs of victory.

The former passed a classy half-century but was adjudged LBW just balls later attempting a reverse sweep, having scored 51 from 63 deliveries.

Adam Wilson came and went quickly, but James Eyre joined Wilde and the pair saw Glossop safely home.

Wilde finished unbeaten with an impressive 45* and Eyre a rapid-fire 26*, Glossop winning by 5 wickets with 14.1 overs to spare.
