The LCB KO Quarter Finals arrived, with Bootle CC of the Liverpool & District Competition now Glossop’s latest challengers. With rain a constant factor throughout the day, play finally started with the format having been reduced to a 15 over game.
Glossop won the toss and chose to bat, Dale Pennington making an excellent start before he was stumped for 23 in the 6th over. Matt Sonczak fell cheaply, but Lee Dale continued the good work thanks to a valuable partnership with Alex Coates before his dismissal in the 11th over for 39, Glossop 79-3. Coates continued to find the gaps, and some hard hitting from Will Hargreaves, 16*, meant Glossop finished 122-4 with Coates run out of the last ball of the innings for 37.
Hargreaves bowled Williams in the first over of the Bootle chase without scoring, but wickets proved hard to come by with the away side coming out all guns blazing, determined to chase down the target. Cameron Ball and Tim Rogers both picked up important wickets, but unfortunately Bootle were too strong, and the visitors got home with 10 balls to spare and secured a 7 wicket win ending 123-3. It brings to an end a terrific run in the competition which has seen Glossop knock out some of the big name teams, Ramsbottom and Norden, so nobody can fault the North Road outfit.
