The final Lancashire County League presentation dinner took place on Friday 20th November at the Masonic Hall in Ashton, attended by players, officials and supporters of the 13 clubs involved in this season’s fixtures, along with a specially invited group of league legends including former Glossop pro , now senior coach, Damian Eyre. Next year these teams will be involved with the newly formed Greater Manchester Cricket League for which fixtures will be released and can be found on the league web-site – gmcl-2016.co.uk. Glossop’s first match in the Premier division will be away at Heywood.
This year’s awards included the usual collection of trophies for Glossop Cricket Club – the two batting prizes for highest total runs and best average went to Dale Pennington, the Hulme Trophy awarded to the 2nd team cup winners was presented to skipper David Wilde, the cup for best performance in the last six games of the season went to Glossop 1st XI skipper Will Hargreaves , and the biggest trophy of all went to the league’s young clubman of the year, for the second year running, Glossop’s Dan Senior.
