Westleigh: 147/10 [43.3]
Glossop 2XI ensured they stayed clear of the relegation zone with another impressive win on the road, this time at Westleigh.
Having made the long journey over to Leigh, Glossop found themselves bowling first.
A brilliant performance from Glossop’s four bowlers saw the home side restricted to just 147/10, Robert Entwistle’s 25 the highest score for Westleigh testament to how well the visitors had bowled.
Sam Dyson (2/29) performed superbly opening up alongside James Eyre (1/23), although the latter was forced out of the attack early on with an injury.
David Allen (3/49) was good value for his three victims, whilst the returning Jack Leyland picked up a brilliant 4/42 in his first game of the season before shooting off again to film for an ITV quiz show.
A wonderful chase meant Glossop chased down the target with ease, 5 wickets to spare and in excess of 17 overs remaining.
Unfortunately, though, a couple of wickets fell in quick succession towards the end of the Glossop innings which meant that they failed to pick up an extra bonus point.
Matt Kells starred with 52 from 82 balls at the top of the order, whilst Will Coates and Steven Bates chipped in with valuable contributions of 24 apiece.
Sam Elliott (15) and James Eyre (11*) also made double figures as Glossop recorded a vital win over a team positioned closely to them in the league.
Next week marks the halfway stage of the season with the last round of fixtures, Glossop hosting Edenfield at North Road.
Edenfield currently sit one place and five points above Glossop in Division 2 along with Swinton Moorside.
