New Faces at the Cricket Club – help required

At our last monthly committee meeting  we began to make plans for next season at Glossop Cricket Club. This message is aimed at those parents and friends of the club who might want to become more involved in helping us maintain the high standards we have set ourselves in recent years on and off the field of play. Clubs like ours do not run themselves – they rely on the efforts mainly of volunteers to support our teams, junior & senior, during the season and to help raise funds during the winter to make sure we cover our costs when the season starts in the Spring.

I began to help at Glossop CC by collecting subs for Roger Mays’  U13s team. I have been chairman for most of the last 12 years during which  time I have been supported by an excellent team of helpers, male and female, and feel very proud of what we have achieved together. Of course others can do as much or as little as they wish or have time for.

I should like to invite possible new helpers to an informal get-together on Wednesday November 19th at 7.30 in the club’s downstairs bar ( which will be open!) to explain further what sort of help you might be able to offer and to answer your questions.

I look forward to seeing you at the above time.

Alan Garlick

Chairman Glossop CC
