Winton: 67/10 [21.1]
Glossop: 69/2 [15.2]
Glossop put Saturday’s troubles behind them and recorded a routine victory over Winton in the first round of the Derek Kay 1XI Per-Fit GMCL Cup competition.
Steve Hunt bowled brilliantly and continued his good form as he took an impressive 5/19.
His explosive spell of bowling, alongside opening partner Cole Turner, set the tone for the rest of the day.
Turner (1/14) picked up a wicket of his own before he was forced to retire due to injury which brought George Dyson into the game.
Dyson, too, bowled exceptionally with his leg spin proving too difficult to face for the struggling Winton side
He finished with figures of 3/11, whilst Chris Tipper claimed the final wicket in a clinical first half for the North Road side.
The batting order changed from its usual set-up in reply with Joe Moss and Jak Megram opening up for Glossop.
Megram looked comfortable for his 17 before he was bowled by Humphrys, but Moss was still going well at the other end.
A mix-up saw James Atkinson run out by Derbyshire for 8 with only 7 required for victory, but Moss (31*) ensured no more slip-ups occurred as Glossop cruised to the win by 8 wickets inside 16 overs.
The 1XI will be hoping for another favourable draw in the next round of the competition as they look to go on a good cup run this season.
