Denton CC 1XI: 104/10 (42.1)
Glossop CC 1XI: 106/4 (17.2)
A strong bowling performance helped Glossop to a 6-wicket victory against Denton CC.
Remarkable opening spells from stand-in skipper Cameron Ball (2/16) and Rob Adderley (2/15) reduced Denton to 25/4 on a difficult track.
After switching from medium pace to off spin, Alex Coates continued their good work by claiming an impressive 6/32 as the hosts were restricted to a disappointing 104/10, extras the top scorer after a testing 42 overs.
Glossop themselves were in a spot of bother at 45/4 when they lost David Wilde, George Dyson, Will Coates and Ball early in their reply, Ali Ismail and Adrian Holmes sharing two wickets apiece.
However, enterprising, boundary-filled knocks from pro Alex Browne (39*) and Alex Coates (22*) propelled the visitors’ score on quickly and ensured they reached their target in a third of their allocated overs.
The result moves Glossop in to third place, just two points behind league leaders’ Glodwick as the season approaches halfway.
Next Saturday sees the 1XI host Uppermill and the 2XI visit Micklehurst, while cricket returns to North Road on Sunday as the 2XI take on Clifton in a Cup Quarter Final.
